Hazel - our Auditory Processing Disorder audiologist here at Bishopdale Hearing

Originally from South Africa, I lived in various places around Aotearoa New Zealand and in Michigan, USA, before settling in Christchurch. I have a broad range of audiological expertise, accrued over ten years of clinical practice. My Masters thesis through the University of Canterbury investigated pitch perception (telling the difference between high-pitch and low-pitch sounds) and temporal patterning (being able to correctly order a sequence of high- and low-pitch tones) in school-aged children with Auditory Processing Disorder. I love working with people from all walks of life to support them to hear as best they can.

When not working, you’ll find me running, reading or hanging out with my husband and daughter. I also enjoy volunteering with IHC in their work supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
